10 Tips on Eating Healthy in College!

These are my five tips! I definitely have more tips up my sleeve, but that shall be another post when I think of more! BTW, I want people know that in the past two months I have gained weight in college and it's super easy to! Why? Because during the first few weeks of college you will be eating all the time because you're in college away from your parents and you can eat whatever the hell you want. Your body then adjusts to eating all that food and when you try to stop it all of a sudden, you feel hungry all the time. Basically, the first week of college I had a huge breakfast, huge lunch, and huge dinner, followed by snacks in between. At home my diet was a small breakfast, huge lunch, and small dinner, with maybe one snack. Maybe. So, it's definitely takes time getting used to, but give it shot!

1.) Skip the fries, burgers, and entrees! Instead of eating a burger with fries or oily pasta that the dining halls normally serve, go to the salad bar. I know the salad bar -- it's boring. You might say the lettuce is gross or the veggies they serve are limited, but let me just say my college's dining service is by Sodexo and if you don't know, Sodexo isn't that healthy, but I make it work! That means you can too. So this brings me to my next tip :)

2.) Learn how to make a delicious salad! During my first few weeks of college, I hated the salad bar because I only put spinach, iceberg lettuce, some tofu, cucumbers, and dressing. NOW I know how to make a gorgeous salad and it tastes amazing. So, here are my suggestions:
  • put a mix of ALL veggies into your salad. Not just the ones you like. Seriously, if you put them all together and you take a bite of it with something you like, you don’t even notice it. Now, I put carrots, green peppers, celery, and more! Also, to make it not taste as bland you can put a tiny bit of coleslaw or potato salad, but not too much.
  • For protein, I always add tofu, chickpeas and beans! If you aren't vegetarian and you want some grilled chicken or turkey, go to the deli line and just ask for some! They're normally more than willing to give you some.
  • Don’t get the fatty dressing! Use the olive oil blend or red wine vinaigrette! Or if you totally want to go crazy you can skip the dressing all together :)
3.) For breakfast, skip the bagels! I’m pretty sure a lot of colleges have bagel shops around and it makes it convenient for students to stop by before class to get breakfast. But on top of the convenience, it’s inexpensive! Bagels are about $2 or less if you get butter or cream cheese, but there’s a downside -- bagels are super high in sugar and they don’t give you any nutritional value at all. They’re full of refined carbs and sugar and if you get butter or cream cheese you’re adding unnecessary saturated fat into your system. For breakfast, CHOOSE fruit! You can eat a bunch of fruit too because they aren’t as caloric as a bagel. I normally opt for a a few bananas or an apple, but definitely switch up! If you must eat a bagel try eating half of it, opt for a whole grain bagel, with a tiny bit of natural peanut butter!

4.) Try cooking your meals once a week! I know it’s tough and you’re on a budget but I have an amazing tip for you! Okay, so pasta is pretty easy to make right? Well, you can make it in your dorm with a mini rice cooker! A rice cooker can boil anything you need! I’ve even boiled steel cut oatmeal for breakfast and it’s delish :) So, go to you trader joes can some whole wheat pasta with fresh tomato sauce and BUNCH of veggies! Don’t forget to eat only once serving of the pasta though! If you aren’t sure 1 serving of grains is equivalent to a ½ cup of pasta.

5.) If you really want to go at it and become super healthy in college try the weekday vegetarian lifestyle. Eat a huge salad or veggie sandwich, veggie wrap. You should watch Graham Hill’s Ted Talk on why he’s a weekday vegetarian. I’m in the midst of trying to become vegetarian entirely, so I’ll do a blog post on how I feel about eating meat a little later.

Also, my rooming situation is also a little different. I'm going to be sharing a suite with 5 other girls and there will be a common room, a little kitchen area, a bathroom, and 3 rooms (2 girls per room).

From the pictures, you can see that I packed everything in boxes and  in suitcases/dufflebags. To me it was easier to pack in boxes because there was room behind my bed to put the boxes in. What I did was I just stacked them and that goes the same for the suitcases as well.

10 Things Most College Students forget when Packing for College!

1.) Nail Clippers: If you forget these, in a week or two you're probably gonna have to make a trip down to the local drugstore. Save yourself the trip and don't forget to pack these!

2.) Camera Charger: Yes, most of us have smartphones now with pretty decent camera however, its always nice to bring the digital camera/ DSLR camera to document your days in college. Just don't forget the camera charger! It's just as important as the camera itself.

3.) A Book: If you're not a bookworm please just do yourself a favor and bring a book! It's nice to sometimes have some time to yourself and get away from the internet and social networking world now. Bring your favorite book and who knows maybe you're gonna realize that reading is most fun thing ever!

4.) Movies: Besides reading, movies are also a great way to past time! Especially if you're living in a suite style setting. Prop the door open in your suite and let people come hangout and enjoy the movie together. It's a great way to make friends during your freshmen year!

5.) Umbrella: Just imagine it raining cats and dogs outside and you have an 8am class! On top if it you forgot an umbrella! Save yourself this potential awful start to a day and bring an umbrella!

6.) Lightbulbs: So having a light go in the middle of night is not fun right? Trust me not even when you're in your own home its not and you have to go dig for another light bulb. Just bring one extra lightbulb, so that you're not in complete darkness for the night.

7.) DuffelBags/Collapsable Boxes instead of Suitcases: Okay so if you're dorm has limited space, bringing everything in a suitcases is probably not the best option. Just think where are you gonna put those huge suitcases in your tiny room? Unless your parents are gonna take it back with them or theres is more space in your room, the best option is to bring your clothes in duffel bags, so you can easily stuff it away or collapsable boxes. Bring one carry-on suitcase if you have to, so you can travel back home with it on vacation though!

8.) USB/SD Cards: If your computer gets full or you need to back up some important documents bring a USB Flashdrive. Also, don't forget your SD cards if you're bringing your camera!

9.) Printer Paper/ Ink: Printer paper and ink is just as important as the printer itself! You don't want to be finished with your paper just to find that your ran out of paper/ink. Stock up on printer paper and ink, so you can avoid this.

10.) Vanity Mirror/ Full length Mirror: Many dorm rooms most likely won't come with a full length room. It's nice to have one, so you can check your outfit for the day. Also, a vanity mirror is nice so you don't have to share the tiny bathroom mirror with other girls to do your makeup for the day.

Hope this helps! This is my take on what I've heard from family members on college tips and from friends. I'm gonna be going to college in less than a week and I'm super excited!

A Small Beauty Haul

Hi Everyone!

I know it's been a while since I did a post, but today for reason it felt like a blog kinda day. So I decided to post a recent beauty purchase of mine! I actually bought almost everything today when I went dorm shopping at Target except the mascara, which I got at Bed Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago.

///Products:
- Cetaphil Cleanser
- Tangle Teezer
-Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
- L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara
- L'Oreal infallible Lacquer Liner
- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wine With Everything (525)
- Revlon Colorburst Mattebalm in Elusive (205)
- Tangle Teezer

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wine With Everything (525)

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wine With Everything (525)
This color was surprisingly like a red when I swatched it. I was not expecting it to be red color at all. However, it's not a straight out red -- more of a muted orange-y red that a brown undertone to it. I would say this a wearable every day kind of red that perfect for the fall! The formula is amazing though! It's smooth, pigmented buttery, soft, and not grainy at all! I'm not sure about the lasting capability yet, but I will be sure to update you. Al I'm not in love with the color, but I can see myself grow to love it once fall comes around.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive (205)

This is more of a bubblegum pink and wasn't expecting it to be this kind of pink -- I was hoping for a more berry color like the tube. I can see this color to be more of a spring and summer shade though.

The formula is super smooth, but not has soft has the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. It has a minty tingly feel to the lips which is refreshing. It's also super pigmented. I actually own this in another shade Standout, and from previous use, the lasting capability of these balms aren't that great. It lasts for about and hour, and then you have to reapply even when there is a lipliner.

I was on the hunt for the perfect my lips but better lipstick, but today's haul shows that I wasn't able to find one. Hopefully next time though!

Tangle Teezer

This comb is so unique and different I decided to try it out. I haven't bought a hair brush in years, so after watching one of Stilababe09's video on Youtube I decided to try this one out.

Flourless Dough Pizza! Low Carb and Guilt Free!

A healthy and guilt free pizza that tastes just as good as normal pizza! Just without the unhealthy carbs from the flour and unnecessary simple carbohydrates. Instead replace it with cauliflower, an excellent source of vitamin c and vitamin k! A great way to enjoy a classic pig out meal by making this much healthier version :)

Ingredients
-Half a head of cauliflower
-Tomato sauce (For an even healthier version, dice up some tomatoes instead and season it with basil and oregano)
- Mozzarella Cheese (Any kind you prefer,. low fat, whole milk, etc.)
- 1 egg
- Bail & Oregano
- Black Pepper and Salt

Cut the cauliflower into small heads like this

Use a food processor or grater to create this texture for the cauliflower

Microwave the cauliflower for 6-7 min or lower. Just until it's mushy and soft

Add the cheese in first about 1/4 of a cup. Just add enough to combine the cauliflower. This really isn't for taste, so you should use less cheese if you can. Save the additional you can add for the topping!

Spread it out onto a round pan and make sure to spray it with non sticking spray first!

Bake in the oven at 425F just until the sides are crispy and golden

Add the tomato sauce and cheese. There really isn't any specified amount of tomato sauce, just enough to cover the middle of it! If you really want to hide the taste of the cauliflower add more tomato sauce. Try to always go light on the cheese, as cheese contains a lot of fat.
Sprinkle on basil, oregano, salt, and pepper
After that pop it back into the oven at 425F for 5 min until the cheese melts into an ooey gooey texture

This tasted so good! Even my brother came back for seconds! Again it's not exactly like pizza dough, but it doesn't taste terrible at all. Definitely try it out and let me know if you enjoyed it! This is all part of my new year's resolution to eat healthier. How are you guys doing with you new year's resolutions?

January Beauty Favorites 2014!

After this cold freezing month in the Northeast, I can finally make a January Favorites!

1.) I've been loving the Clean & Clear morning burst hydrating cleanser and gel moisturizer. They're both refreshing  and they give a clean and hydrating (but not oily) feel after I use them. They both have a cucumber like scent; the cleanser has tiny beads in it (but they're not exfoliating) and the moisturizer is a gel like consistency. The moisturizer is pretty unique for a drugstore product and I'll definitely be repurchasing it because I have super oily skin and it's perfect for it. The cleanser on the other hand is really just any other generic cleanser, but it's good anyways!

2.) Covergirl 3-in-1 Foundation-- I talk about this way too much on this blog, I need to find something else to talk about but I swear I've used a whole lot more this month than any other month because I've been breaking out a whole lot. It might be because I started to work out a lot more and may be because it was my body's way of just releasing all toxins.

3.) Clinique Even Better Concealer: This is pretty old in my collection and I just dug this up to use. (It was one my first makeup products!) Normally I don't use it that much because it's pretty light for my skin tone, but since we're in the deep winter state, I'm pale as ever now. This is great for under eye and small blemishes on certain areas like my cheeks.

4.) Next, are two products I've always mentioned, so I'm just gonna put them together in this one. It's the Elf eyebrow kit in dark and Maybelline 24 Hr. Tattoo in Barely Branded. Both are awesome products. The eyebrow kit is a steal for $3 and the color tattoo is a gorgeous color for this month because it really reminds of the snow.

5.) Physicians Formula Green Concealer: Since I've been breaking out a lot this month, I've used this green concealer to cover up the redness and it really helps with the coverage. I apply this first and use the Covergirl foundation over it. I'll do a more in depth review on this later!

6.) Urban Decay Eyeliner in West: This is one of my first Urban Decay Eyeliners and I'm freaking in love with them. I never understood the hype for these $18 glide on eye pencils, but now I know. During the holiday season, I was able to get the Black Market set of 5 travel sized Urban Decay liners for $24. I thought this as such a great steal! Anyways, I've been loving West which a brown shade with some sparkle in  it!

7.) Maybelline Baby Lips: I don't know where I've been the past few years or so, but I just bought this in the beginning of January. It's super affordable like $3 and it gives a nice sheer color while moisturizing your lips. I can't wait to try out more from this line :)

8.) Bath and Body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla Body Lotion and Body Spray: It's a very citrus-y scent with a tiny hint of vanilla. I used this almost all of January :)

9.) Benefit Watts Up Highlighter gives the most gorgeous highlight with a perfect blend of pink and gold!
Hope you enjoyed this!

Nail of the Day + New Favorite Nail Polish Brand

Guess what??! I found a new favorite nail polish brand guys :) It's Spoiled by Wet n' Wild. I have only one shade from there line and it's called Steel the Show. It's the really pretty sophisticated grey shade. I know my nails don't look that great in the picture. My cuticles need to be cut and the nail polish is growing out. BUT I did this on purpose to show you guys that this nail polish really does last a long time! I applied this four days ago and it's looking good! I applied about two coats of this and there are no chips and it's still shiny! Did I mention I didn't use a topcoat? Yup this polish is great! The only problem that people would have is the brush. The brush is pretty poor quality; it's thick and wide and it can be a hassle for few people. Personally, I like the brush because I like the fact that it's so dense and thick because it makes the application go by so much faster! And it dries relatively fast and it's cheap. This line of nail polish is only sold through CVS for $1.99!  I'll definitely let you guys know about the other polishes they have in their line as soon as I can!

A Very Late 2013 Favorites

Hey Everyone!

I'm a really late on this post but hopefully you'll find this helpful! In 2013, I have found a bunch of amazing products. I will most definitely be repurchasing almost everything in this post!  Alright so here we go!

1.) Foundation: Covergirl 3-in-1 Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation. It's full coverage, but it doesn't feel heavy at all. I also use this as a concealer to cover up spots because it doesn't make the area look dry or flaky. Yes, definitely in love with this foundation.

2.) Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (translucent)- This powder is great! I have super oil skin and this powder keeps matte for roughly half  to three quarters of the day. I will try more just to see if there is other powder better than this, but in general I really like this powder :)

3.) NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder- It's sooo cheap. Like $2.99 cheap. And it's pretty good too. It's pigmented and matte! However, this bronzer is on the more orangey side which isn't my favorite thing about it, but that's okay. I sometimes use this as eyeshadow as a crease color too. For the price it's really good.

4.) Elf Eyebrow Kit (Dark)- I use the wax side the most for my brows. It makes my brows look super natural. Also, the shadow write next to it pretty pigmented and it's also a dupe for Mac's Cork and Urban Decay's Buck!

4.) Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush- Peach Satin: Love love love. It adds such a natural flush of color and it's perfect for any time of the year.

5.) Nivea Lip Butter- Almost every night before I go to bed I apply this on my lips and pretend I'm using a Dior Rose lip salve. But I don't have $40 to fork over for that.  I don't see myself spending anymore than 5 bucks for a lip balm. The Nivea one makes my lips super soft when I wake up. However, I don't use this during the day because it gives off a milky white cast on my lips which isn't pretty.

6.) Maybelline Color Tattoos: I love this line cream shadows. If I could pick one eye shadow to wear for the rest of my life it would be one these babies. My favorite colors are Bad to the Bronze and Barely Branded. They are absolutely gorgeous and they last on my oily lids for most of the day. Amazing!

7.) Jordana Fabuliner: This felt-tip eyeliner is super cheap ($1.99) and it lasts for a long time! I have one from March 2013 and it's still works. I opened a new one but sometimes I go back to it to see if it has dried out and it hasn't! It's just not as black as once was, but it works! HUGE Tip is is to store your felt tip eyeliners tip down, so all the product leaks to the bottom :)

8.) Benefit They're Real Mascara: I have the sample size of this and I love it! It lengths my lashes, but it also HOLDS the curl as well. In most mascaras I've tried, I always lose the curl after I apply the coat.

9.) Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter: It's gives off the most natural golden highlight without be looking like a discoball, and you only need a tiny bit of it too!

10.) Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie: I love this color. It's a my lips but better color and I absolutely love it. The only downside is that it's fairly pricey for a product that does not last very long. When I apply this I have to apply a generous amount to build the color, and I have to reapply often throughout the day because it is a lip butter after all. You don't get very much product either. Overall I love the color and product, but not the price and how much you get. But I think I found a lipstick version of this color! I'll let you know more soon!

Update and New Year's Resolution

Hiiiii to whoever's reading :) I haven't posted anything in a while so I don't think anybody will actually read this post. I know I haven't posted anything in a super duper long time (since September). Eeek. I'm sorry. I don't have that many readers, so when I stopped I didn't think it would really matter, but it makes this blog look bad because there is a huge gap of nothing in the end of 2013. Well, I plan on restarting my blog up this year by making it a goal to post at least once a week. See, I'm a Senior in high school, so the beginning of the year was pretty bad with school work and college apps. But I got into one of my top choice of colleges last month, so I just have to keep up my grades for the rest of my year. To be honest, I'm still not very gung-ho on blogging, but it's nice to write stuff down and pretend to believe that ACTUAL people are reading it. Sometimes I go back and read my blog posts and see a bunch of grammatical errors and I kick myself for not proof reading. Welp I'm going to try this year! (after this post) Anyways I'm going to start my first post of the year with my resolutions! As you already know my first one is keeping up with this blog.
1.) Post once a week (and proof read!)
2.) Get Healthy! - I know most people probably have a lot of "lose weight" on their resolution. I've always had that on my resolutions and it never goes well. This year I'm going to try just being healthier and losing weight should just come with it. That means I will really try to incorporate healthier foods into my diet and also try to exercise more. Once I get into the swing of things with this "Get Healthier" lifestyle, I'll be sure to post on this blog!
3.) Run once a week - this goes with my goal above. I make it a resolution to run once a week, because I don't want this list to be impossible. I definitely will try to run more than once a week, but I always tend to lost the rhythm of things if I set my goals to high. So it's best to set it low and aim high. If I'm having a lazy week, running at least once that week is better than not running at all :)
4.) No Soda. Yep. No soda. Shocking? I find myself more of a food than drink person. I'd rather eat my calories than drink them. I was never a big soda person to begin with, but I would drink if it was in the house or if was out eating. Now, I've decided to cut soda out, because honestly there's nothing in soda that's good for you and it's best to cut it out.
5.) Be confident. I have a very low self esteem and I'd really like to have more confidence. I always picture everything I do is not good, and anybody who does it is probably better than me. So I'd really like to be more confident this year!
6.) Take pictures!! It's my senior year and I really can't fathom leaving my friends that I've known since kindergarten. I can't imagine not seeing them on a daily basis, and only being able to see them a few times a year after that! I'm going to a mess at graduation. So, to keep my memories alive, I want to take as much pictures as I can with my friends, and document the rest of the 6 months I have with them!
