Mario Badescu Dupe?!?

I don't if you guys know about the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, but it's been talked a lot on Youtube. It's basically an acne spot treatment. You take a Q-tip and dip all the way down to the bottom of the bottle to the pink stuff without shaking the bottle and apply it to your acne. It's suppose to significantly shrink the size of the pimple. Now I don't own the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, but I found out that the calamine lotion is basically the SAME THING. I actually got this idea from my grandma that Calamine lotion can work on acne. So one day I tried it out and the pimples did reduce in size. I did some research and on Mario Badescu's website their drying lotion is "Formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick drying ingredients.."  There you have it guys-- save yourselves some money by just buying the calamine lotion and not the $17 bottle of Mario Badescu's drying lotion. Calamine Lotion is super cheap ranging from $3-$5 depending on the brand you choose. Plus you get a whole lot more product and it's perfect for the summer to combat those mosquito bites :)

Long Lasting Felt Tip Liner?!? Review: The Jordana Fabuliner

Over the past couple of months I've been trying out this Jordana Fabuliner after Youtuber, EleventhGorgeous's rave about this.

Inexpensive (only $2.99!)
Very pigmented
Lasts a LONG Time

Smudges (for my oily eyelids)

This eyeliner is a felt tip liner for only $2.99 from Cherry Culture. I'm pretty sure Jordana Cosmetics are sold in drugstores too, so check those out as well! As you can see from the swatches above, this eyeliner is very BLACK. I can't exactly compare this to any other drugstore felt tip liners because I haven't tried any, but I do really love this liner. The only problem I have with this is that it smudges like crazy. My oily eyelids tend to be reason. The liner does stay put for the whole day, but if I were to smudge my eyes a little, the liner will definitely come off a little. Maybe for someone who doesn't have as oily eyelids as mine, will work well for them. For this to work at its best I always set it with some black eye shadow. Oh and also, this liner will last you a LONG time. Let me tell you, I've had this since March and it's the end of July now --- and it's still going strong! I use this at least once or twice a week, so I think it says a lot about it's lasting capabilities. You can find this product at Walgreens I believe, or even the dollar store :) They also sell this in brown, which I still have yet to try.

Products I Regret Buying

These are a few products that I bought that I totally regret buying. Some I know are super popular and have been raved about, but they just don't work on me. Anyways hope you guys find this helpful!

The Elf Little Black Beauty Book (Warm Edition)

I bought the Little Black Beauty Book (Warm Edition)  from MacBarbie07's little mention about it from one of her favorites video. I decided to buy it since it was only $5. Little did I know that the shadows are super chalky and not very pigmented.  As you can see from the photo above, the pigmentation isn't that great.

Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Too Cool

This is a Maybelline 24 Hour Dream Tattoo in Too Cool.  I actually love this collection especially the colors Barely Branded and Bad to the Bronze, but the color Too Cool is just way to sparkly for me. The glitter is really chunky and it's not flattering on my eyes. You might be able to pull it off for maybe a crazy party or something, but for me this glitz is just too much.

Maybelline Falsied Flared and Original

So here is the Maybelinne Falsies Flared Mascara. I've tried the original one too, but I really don't like both. Whenever I apply it on, my eyes start stingy like crazy and my eyes water up. Maybe there's something in the formula that I'm allergic to. I thought I bought a bad bottle tube or something, so I went out and tried the Flared version and still my eyes stung. Although, it did length my lashes, it was the stinging that I just couldn't deal with.

Elf Translucent Mattifying Powder

The Elf Translucent Mattifying Powder was only $3 but the powder doesn't work at all. It's suppose to be Translucent, but really when you apply it on it leaves a small white cast on your face which isn't attractive at all. This is a definitely a regret for me, but I do like the big compact sized mirror!

Nightly Skincare Routine!

My nightly skincare routine as promised!
Step 1. I first start off by taking off any makeup I have. I usually use extra virgin olive oil, but I also have the Neutrogena Makeup Remover as well. Honestly, the olive oil works so much better and it's so much better more the skin. I definitely recommend using extra virgin olive to take your makeup off!

Step 2. I cleanse my face with Neutrogena's Naturals fresh cleansing and makeup remover cleanser. This helps takes off any makeup that the olive doesn't take off. Normally, olive oil or any other makeup remover will leave a thin film of residue on my face that is normally tainted black from the eyeliner or mascara I used, so I just use this take it off. Sometimes I can get away with just using this cleanser to take all my makeup off. Especially on days when I don't wear eyeliner or mascara, this cleanser can take it all off. Next, I use the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. It's super gentle and  it cleanses my face. What I like about this cleanser is that it doesn't make my face squeaky clean or anything so it's good for people who have dry skin, but I have oily skin and it still does the job done without stripping my face entirely!

Step 3. I moisturize my face at night with the Yes to Tomatoes Daily Moisturizer. This stuff is really potent. It's really thick and creamy and one bottle almost lasted me an entire year! I bought this last year in August, and I just through out the empty bottle a few days ago. Essentially, it lasted for about 11 months and I kid you not I used it day and night for all those 11 months. Yes, I used to use it in the morning as well, but I've realized that this moisturizer is too thick for me in the morning since I have oily skin. I'm definitely gonna repurchase this and it will probably last me even longer since I only plan on using it at night now. Although it is pricey for a drugstore moisturizer (about $15) it lasts a long time. I need to go pick some up later whenever I get a chance to go to Target.

Step 4. Finally I just spot treat with the Clean and Clear Advantage Popped Pimple Relief Drying Paste. You only need the tiniest bit and it will turn stark white on your face. This little tube will last a while as well. I'm not sure if this does anything that will reduce the longevity of the pimple on my face, but I just like putting it on so I know 'm doing something with any pimples on face. I've used the clean and clear Persagel, but I find that isn't really strong enough for my face anymore because I've gone through almost two tubes of it. I think my face is kind of immune to that stuff now.
Hope you find this helpful!

Travel Makeup!

Before I get into the post let me tell you about my new camera that came in the mail yesterday!! It's the Canon Rebel T3i with the Tamron 17- 50 mm f/2.8 lens. Let me tell you it's awesome. I bought it not for blogging purposes, but for school. You see I recently became one of the editors for my school's yearbook club, so I decided to get a dslr camera. Although, I didn't pay for this hehe my dad did (I think some family members are helping to pay for it as well), this camera is my super early birthday present, since my birthday is in September. Anyways on to the blog post!
Right, so next week I'm going college visiting for about 3 days. I don't think I'm gonna be wearing much makeup, but just for fun I'm gonna bring some along. Above pictured is my Chapstick, Naked 2 Palette, Elf Eyebrow Kit, Jordana Fabuliner (which i love dearly), Tweezerman Eyelash curler and a brush for the brows. I'm probably going to do a separate post on the Jordana Fabuliner because I love it so much and because it's only $2.99! So yup this is essentially the makeup I'll be taking along with me. If you're wondering why I'm not going to be bringing foundation, concealer, or powder it's because it's gonna be hot and I just don't feel like wearing foundation. Plus, I'm gonna be in the car the majority of the time and my skin isn't that bad right now, so I'm just gonna go au natural with the face :)

Cheap INEXPENSIVE Primer! Dupe for Benefit's Porefessional Primer?!?!?!

The Monistat chafing relief powder gel is actually great as a face primer! Primers tend to be really expensive like the Benefit Porefessionals ($28). However, this one is at most $10 from CVS. I'm sure it's cheaper else where because my CVS is known to be pretty pricey compared to other stores. Anyways this chafing gel really makes my foundation stay on all day.  The Monistat primer is a transulcent white gel and once you rub it in it fades into a powder form. The smell is little funky (kind of chemically), but I swear you won't notice it once you put it on your face. The Benefit one smells a little floral and it's a nice beige cream color. I've tried the Benefit one and it is great, but the price isn't so great though. I used the Benefit one for prom and it literally lasted all night and day, through the sweat and humidity and on top of that my oily skin. The Benefit primer is good, but really paying $30 for a face primer isn't.
I used the Monistat primer for school, and let me tell you my face get's pretty dang oily through the day. My skin is uber oily and get's really annoying when I can feel the film of slick across my cheek when my fingers happen to brush pass my cheek in the afternoon. When I don't use primer, my foundation and concealer fades away. But when I used my monistat primer, my foundation stayed in place! I DO still get oily with it, but not as much if i didn't use it. In terms of staying power compared to the Benefit Porefessional, I think the Benefit one is a little better, but for school purposes it good for the 8 hours. It may not cut it for 12 hours lets say during prom, but for school it's good. So my advice? Buy the Monistat Chafing Powder Gel it works pretty well for my oily skin and for those who have dry skin it will probably work even better for you!! (It would probably be up to par with the Benefit Porefessional then)

How I Wax My Brows!

Waxing your brows can really rack up your bill if you do it all the time. I've been doing my own brows forever and I've never gotten them professionally done. I never had anyone to take me to get it professionally done and also I really don't trust anybody with them too. I just taught my self how to shape my brows with the help of YouTube of course. I've watched a bunch of Youtube videos before I started. When I first started out waxing my brows I was really scared, but I took baby steps. That way if I made any mistakes it wouldn't be that noticeable. The tutorial was from SMLxo, but I think she deleted her video, but of course the beauty queen of Youtube, Michelle Phan, has one!

Okay, so I first started out by just waxing the bottom. I wasn't comfortable with waxing the top of my brows until a year later, so the point is is to take your time! Just start out slowly, so you don't make any big mistakes because you really don't want to when doing your brows. After all the brows frame your face!
So here's a little more in depth tutorial on how I do my brows.

1.) I first take the small sized strip from the box and cut it in half. This size is the perfect size for when ever I need to do my brows. The other two sizes that come in the box, I always after to cut around a little to make it fit my brows.
2.) Anyways, so take the half piece you just cut and shape it in the arch of your brow from the bottom.
3.) I like heating the wax strips by using a blow dryer for about 15 sec. because if you rub it with you hands when the strips are cut, the wax oozes out and it creates a big sticky mess. I also find heating it between your hands before and cutting after loses a lot of the heat and it won't stick as well.
4.) Then I apply it underneath the arch of my eyebrow and rip it in the opposite direction.
5.) I use the remaining strips that just so happen to be in the perfect size for my top brows and repeat the same process. However, with the other sizes in the box, I have to make do and cut a little more.
6.) You will have some hairs that didn't come out, so you will have to tweeze some.
7.) Then apply the finishing oil to soothe the skin!
Hope you find this helpful!

Neutral Matte Makeup Look!

Hi Everybody!

I recently discovered a new favorite eye makeup look that I love to wear, using completely all matte shadows. There's is a tiny bit of shimmer, but that's optional and I don't use it all the time. The shimmer shadow is Sand from the Sephora Primal Instincts Palette, and I take my index finger and dab it onto the center of lid once. The suddle shimmer makes a big difference; it doesn't make your lid shimmery-- just brings a little bit of light to the eyes. So I still consider this a matte look, the shimmer brings in tiny bit of light and it looks so pretty! This makeup look is fast and simple and perfect for people who want to wear makeup, but don't want to draw attention-- especially when you're just starting out wearing makeup. I hope you guys enjoy!

Hair Care Routine

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm going to be showing you my hair care routine. Just to let you guys know my hair is pin straight, black, and almost kind of slippery... if you know what I mean. It's slippery as in like it doesn't hold bobby pins well because the bobby pin will be kind of loose. My hair is the classic Asian hair which I'm so glad to have. I never really have to worry about frizz, or styling my hair. I just walk out the door with just a brush through and I'm done! (unless I'm styling of course) But I've tried a bajillion products from the drugstore in the past few years, ever since I've been obsessed over hair care products. There's just so many products to choose from. From the packaging, to the scent, and what the product is "suppose" to do. I normally reach for products that are for split-end remedy, even though I rarely ever use heat on my hair, I like knowing that my hair is even "stronger."
However, lately I haven't been obsessing over buying new hair products. I just reach for the same shampoo and conditioner at the store for the past year now and I've just stuck with it. I will say that I do switch up my shampoo because it keeps my hair from being "accustomed" to the shampoo. If I use a certain shampoo for too long, it doesn't really clean all the gunk out of my hair. I like using the Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue or Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp. Now I do switch my shampoos up like I mentioned earlier, but I haven't found one that I really love yet and I don't want to mention anything. So for now, I love using Head & Shoulders and when I need to switch up my shampoo, I just choose one from the drugstore that catches my eye, but I have been using the same conditioner for the past year and I LOVE it. I use the Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Conditioner. I changed it up this one time, but I knew right away that it was a bad mistake. I think I've gone through like 5 bottles of this stuff and it's great! I will warn you to NOT buy the ones in bulk from Sam's Club or Costco. I bought it once and the product was totally different. The consistency was much more liquidy and it wasn't as thick as ones in the smaller bottles from my local CVS. I'm guessing the bulk bottles are filled with filler and not much of the actual conditioner, so stick with the normal 12 fl. oz bottles from your local drugstore! I'll do a separate post on my favorite leave-in products too.

Aspirin Mask

Hey Everybody!

I am sure you guys all have heard of the asprin mask before. Right? Well if you haven't today I will be going to show you how and it is by far the most effective acne treatment that I have ever used on my face. It's so easy, quick, and inexpensive!!! All you need is aspirin, honey, and water!

Step 1:

Take 3 tablets of aspirin. You may use the powder version of aspirin as well but I personally find it easier to use the tablet forms WITHOUT the coating. The aspirin I'm using is just the generic CVS brand and it works great. Only 99 cents!!

Step 2:

Place the 3 tablets in your palm and drop some water one at a time just enough to break the aspirin into a powder formation. While you are dripping a drops of water, use your index finger to apply pressure to tablets to break them apart The reason why I find the tablets to be easier than the powder form is because there's no hassle to pour the powder out. You jut take 3 tablets drip a few drops of water and voila you're ready for the next step!

Step 3:

Once the tablets are now in powder form in your palm, take your honey and squeeze about a dollop onto your palm.

Step 4:

MIX! And apply to your face. For me I sometimes just apply it to my T-zone because that's all I ever really break out. So, if you want just apply it to certain areas of your face where you break out. But for me, I usually apply it all over and leave it on as a mask. I leave the mask on for about 20-45 min. It depends on what I'm doing. But when it's time to rinse off, I use this mask as an exfoliation as well! The aspirin bits and pieces act as an exfoliator and the honey moisturizes your face at the same time. So yupp this seriously works and you will definitely notice that this treatment works. Hopefully it works just as good as it does for me. ENJOY!!
